I know a lot of people are looking forward to this one, but its way too PVP oriented for me.
What are other people's thoughts on this one?
I love warhammer. The lore and artwork that Games Workshop has created for the tabletop and pen & paper games is just incredible and the developers at mythic really seem to be dedicated to translating that into the highest quality game possible.
I am normally not very pvp oriented but warhammer seems like it will have a satisfying mix of pve and pvp game play.
The only thing that could make it even more appealing is if it were warhammer 40k instead of fantasy but I'll happily take whichever I can get. THQ is supposed to be working on a 40k MMO now but it will be years before we hear much about it and it will be their first MMO so I am wary of how it may turn out. Even this fantasy warhammer MMO had a troubled start going through the hands of at least one prior developer and being canceled before Mythic took over development.
Some recent info from a 2 day demo Mythic hosted for a bunch of fansite folks.

Maybe we'll get koal to swing something other than a strict sword and board. That'd be something to see.
I think this is the game that i am the most excited about. I played DAoC for a LONG time, and really enjoyed it. From what i have been reading, it sounds like they are taking the better parts out of WoW and DAoC, and combining the two.
Something that i hope they are porting from DAoC was their idea of the dungeon with the best loot / XP (Darkness Falls) that you can only enter if your realm is currently winning.
The only thing i can bitch about is that they didn't take the 3 realm arch that DAoC used. While i understand that the 3 faction system wouldn't work using warhammer, i still thought that it was one of the better parts of the game.
And to be fair, yes, i was the nerd that used to put together and paint the little models to play the game.
Heh, you and me both. I had armies for both fantasy and 40k. Chaos, undead, space marines and eldar. Several boxes worth as well as just about every source book ever published and several dozen copies of White Dwarf magazine.
Once more Mythic has delayed the release of the game. This time the estimated launch date was pushed back to April/May/June of 2008 and it is possible it could be pushed back still further.
